Drool Over Unaffordable Shoes Monday

Example

Sigh. A girl and her shoe dreams. In this case, a $945 pair of blue satin Manolo’s appropriately named “Something Blue.” And for the movie buffs out there, these are the shoes Carrie wore to her official wedding to Big at the end of the Sex and the City movie.

New Website Music!

Just a little music that’s been inspiring me lately… I’ve been on a little Jason Mraz kick, and I just love this one. Although I will say that I prefer his duet with Priscilla Ahn (see below), but it’s less accessible than the Colbie Caillat version.

The second song is a Frames cover of Bob Dylan’s less mainstream folky tune, “You Ain’t Going Nowhere.” I chose the duet version with Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard (lead singer of the Frames) for the main site. This song puts me in a good place no matter what craziness is going on in life. There is something unbelievably heartwarming in this joyful tune about the sweet anticipation of tomorrow, seeing your bride for the first time and starting your life in an easy chair! Third is another folksy little tune made popular by the great flick Juno. One of my all-time favorite be happy songs inspired by love!

Lauren and Mike 8.22.09 Teasers

Lauren and Mike got married this weekend in Pittsburgh, PA. The ceremony was at the beautiful Heinz Chapel and the reception followed at the Sheraton Station Square overlooking the river. Lauren and Mike are dear friends, two of the nicest people I know, and perfect for each other. Their wedding was amazing, beautiful, and filled with warmth, love, and tons of personality. Guests danced the night away right along with the gorgeous bride and groom. Here are some teaser shots to enjoy before the professional shots come back! I was lucky enough to
assist and coordinate during the photo
shoots, and they are going to be phenomenal! I’ll include vendor information as well as a link to Lauren and Mike’s fabulous florist in a future post.

Lauren was simply stunning and her smile glowed all day, and Mike could not stop looking at his gorgeous bride!

Her dress was a show stopper with a sweetheart neck and lace details.

Congrats, Lauren and Mike! It was my honor to help out in a meaningful way during your perfect day!

The Guest Dress of the Season

I love this dress… the cut is unique, but still completely classic, just like an ideal wedding!

Made from a silk habotai print, each silk rosette was hand-stitched giving it a vintage feel. The combination of midnight blue and black surely inspired the name of the dress: Midnight Stroll. Perfect for an autumn special event!

Since it’s new J.Crew, it’s at a pricey $250, but, never fear, I’m sure it will hit the sale rack soon!

Etsy Pick of the Day: Angee W.’s Clutches

Angee W.’s inspired clutches would make the perfect bridesmaids gift. I’m partial to the lilac, but they are all pretty special.

Digging into the Wedding Dance Archives

I know, it’s a bit early for the Friday funnies, but I needed a mid-week pick-me-up, and what better way is there to get laughing than to YouTube hilarious wedding dance videos?

This one is a dated, but I love it because the groom is having so much FUN! You can just tell they are all having a beyond fantastic time. Fast forward to the 1.50 mark for an utterly feel good moment.

And this is an oldy but a goody… the UK Dirty Dancing dance re-creation gets me everytime. Between the vintage-esque dance dress, the multiple lifts, the movie-to-wedding accuracy, and the smiles on everyone’s faces, I love it! And this video is a perfect example of how a dancing and happy couple is completely contagious.

    Friday Fashion Spotlight: Anne Barge

Detail, beautiful workmanship, classic lines, effortless femininity, french lace, and luxe fabrics all describe Anne Barge. And I just learned she got her start at Priscilla of Boston, my all-time favorite, so there’s no surprise I love her style! All photos courtesy of Anne Barge Spring 2009 collection.

You Had Me at a Business Name Like "Eclectic Eccentricity Jewellery"

If Jerry Maguire had Renee Zelwegger at “Hello,” “Eclectic Eccentricity Jewellery” had me with their company name. Offering self-described “jewellery with inspire kookiness,” these unique trinkets are total sass, personality, vintage charm, and just enough sentimental kitsch. In short, I love it!

And with products like this “For Your Eyes Only” locket, their jewelry does not disappoint! It opens up, where the gift giver can place a little note. How very message in a bottle, no?

My favorite item (below) gave me that instant “I wish it was my birthday” feeling. It’s a 1950s inspired brass love spinner! I know – enough said. It sort of reminds me of “He loves me; he loves me not” but for grown ups/the young at heart.I also adore these “Maybe, Baby” earrings. And with super affordable prices, you can bestow your wedding party and yourself with some pretty special “thank you for being you” gifts.

Taken from the “about us” portion of their website, I just love the explanation behind these inspiring pieces of jewelry:

Run by jewellery designer Lucy Averill, Eclectic Eccentricity is a vibrant collection of vintage and contemporary jewellery. Combining a love for unique and varied pieces with a hefty dose of fun, the collections are as different as the name (which combine’s two of Lucy’s favourite words in the English language).

Founded in 2004, Eclectic Eccentricity is full of gems and trinkets galore; necklaces, rings, brooches, bracelets and hair slides, all inspired by her love of knick knacks with stories to tell – from Jolly Rogers to flying planes; lockets, umbrellas, bicycles, globes to love letters. From the shabby to the chic, Eclectic Eccentricity continually updates its range with new and exciting pieces, as well as featuring Exclusive Eccentricities, a collection of individual pieces guaranteed to be one of a kind.

With the helps of a small team of fabulous, happy and shiny people, a great deal of love, care and attention goes into every single order. Each item is individually gift boxed in delightful logoed boxes and is designed to brighten your day!

Lucy currently lives in Norfolk, England, with her cute writer husband and the rather rotund puss cat Tilly. She loves English breakfasts, books by Phillipa Gregory and movies by George A. Romero. It’s possible she lives up to her eccentric name.
