Friday Funnies Courtesy of The Office!

At Better Together Events, we love “The Office.”  If you don’t follow the show, you must catch up on Hulu - I promise you won’t be sorry!

Some belated thoughts on Pam and Jim’s wedding episode from a few weeks back:

  • Why didn’t the bride call an ambulance when Andy had his accident?  Shameless plug #1: If she had an experienced wedding planner by her side, she’d be getting her beauty sleep instead of driving to the ER.
  • Ripped veil!  Minor emergency… if only Better Together Events was by her side with her wedding day emergency kit.
  • I love the spoof of the YouTube wedding video!  Beyond brilliant.

  • This episode was my ultimate favorite, and the unspoken dialogue between Pam and Jim was classic.  Favorite Jim quote ever: “I bought those boat tickets the day I saw that YouTube video. I knew we’d need a back-up plan. The boat was actually Plan C. The church was Plan B. And Plan A was.. marrying her a long, long time ago — pretty much the day I met her.”

I just  love LOVE… even the kind acted out on good TV.  Happy Friday and Happy Halloween!

Mad Men Inspired Wedding Gowns

I watch Mad Men every week — well at least on the Sundays when there isn’t a post season baseball game to enjoy!  I consider it my fashion homework for the week, and it inspired me to share some of my favorite 1950s inspired wedding gowns.

Check out this one by Anne Barge:

Michelle Roth for Kleinfeld’s:

And my favorite Mad Men star (Christina Hendricks) in Oscar de la Renta:

Lauren and Mike

Congratulations to newlyweds Lauren and Mike who were married on August 22nd in Pittsburgh, PA. It was a gorgeous summer day in Pittsburgh, and the photos by Michael Bupp truly capture the spirit of the day.

Lauren was a creative force to be reckoned with in planning her wedding, and only needed a bit of assistance with day-of coordination to make sure all her hard work was implemented in the way she envisioned.

Lauren and Mike were married at the strikingly beautiful Heinz Chapel

Photos were taken throughout the city of Pittsburgh including at the Carnegie Mellon Column building

and at the awe-inspiring Mt. Washington observation deck.

Such a beautiful bride!  And she’s this pretty on the inside, too! :)

 And she selected some beyond
sigh-worthy shoes!

The tablescapes were beyond gorgeous (floral design by Mocha Rose).  Different sized centerpieces filled the waterfront Reflections room at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel punctuated with an exquisite attention to detail and elegant chiavari chairs.

Congrats, Lauren and Mike!  May you forever be as happy as you were this day!

How to Have a Chic Green Wedding

Try these easy tips to make your wedding more earth friendly!

Caterer: Ask him/her to use more organic and seasonal ingredients and make sure they remember to recycle after the reception.

Favors: Make a favorable donation to an environmental chairty, like Greenpeace, or give the gift of a small tree seedling.

Flowers: Ask your florist to use certified organic flowers and avoid spraying with chemical pesticides.  You can point your florist to a great company called Organic Bouquet.

Invitations:  Use 100% recycled paper and soy-based ink from a company like Green Paper Studio.

Place Cards: Get inspired by the outdoors and print guest names on leaves tied with ribbon or on small stones that guests can either return to a river or add to their home gardens.

Thank Heaven For Little Girls!

While it’s no secret on this blog, that I am a huge fan of US Angels for flower girl dresses, they tend to be on the pricier end, so check out these precious alternatives for under $100. Alfred Angelo (Style 6143 ), $100:

How adorable are the buttons down the back?

Prints are big for weddings right now.  Check out this sassy printed flower girl dress ($99, David’s Bridal).

I love the vintagey feel of this faded pink dress with the playful ruffled neckline.  And at $79, it’s a steal (David’s Bridal).

For a bit more (but less than $150), check out the amazing new styles by Priscilla of Boston and Melissa Sweet.  I love their use of cotton tricotine… a very practical and comfortable fabric for the littlest members of your bridal party!  So stinkin’ cute I can’t get over it!
