Some Seriously Divine Cakes

I was reading The Knot’s weekly vendor newsletter yesterday, and I could not get over some of the cakes featured there.  Check them out below for some fabulous, unique, and just plain pretty cake ideas to bring to your baker.

The hydrangeas on the top really bring out the details in the cut-out.  And blue and red is one of my new favorite color schemes.

You just can’t argue with “All you need is love.”
The green accented with the hibiscus flower brings out a new take on a round cake.
Orchids and chocolate: two of my favorites.
This cake reminds me of a Project Runway dress with the soft pick ruffles.
I love the simplicity paired with the sugar hydrangeas. Reminds me of the Cape wedding coming up in July!
This shade of purple is so sweet, especially with the delicate, elegant design.

This cake would coordinate well with a lace dress.

Nothing says Spring as elegantly as Lilies of the Valley.

This chocolate truffle cake is so unique with its asymmetrical design.

I saved my favorite for last… green love birds displayed on a hand-painted, blue cake.

Designer Spotlight: Melissa Sweet

Happy Friday courtesy of some majorly sigh-worthy designer dresses!

Melissa Sweet started designing wedding gowns in 1996 and she instantly won raves for the balance and proportion of her gowns.  It wasn’t long until her flattering silhouettes and flawless construction led to her being scooped up by Priscilla of Boston, where her complete collections are sold and showcased.  Her designs really combine the classic bride exemplified by Priscilla’s with the whimsy and fun typically found in Melissa Sweet’s dresses.  She is definitely a favorite of mine!

To get your fashion heart aflutter and to enjoy Lady Gaga, check out this runway video from her 2010 Spring collection:

The feather headpieces are a fabulous touch.

Check out some of my favorites below:

Fern: Ivory Net and French Lace gown

Haillie: French Lace over Silk Charmeuse Strapless gown with drop-waist detail and woven Ribbon detail throughout bodice and hem. Sweep inset train. Available in Diamond White, Ivory and White.

Callista: Ivory English net gown with pinched net straps, elongated torso and multi-tiered skirt trimmed with lace.

Nell: Metalic white Knee-length Italian silk taffeta gown with draped sweetheart bodice and lace-trimmed hemline.

Happy "I Told You So" Friday Courtesy of the Star Wars Wedding

So I was innocently working on my Best 20 Wedding Movies Part 2 post (a sequel to Part 1 posted back in July) when I innocently mentioned to my husband that I was going to include Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.  I also may have mentioned how I was excited at the prospects of infuriating all those macho Star Wars male fans out there… you know who you are and we know about your Star Wars figurine collection in your basement and we just might like you because of it.  And I know you read my little wedding planning blog!

Anyway, as I digress in multiple directions…. My husband was convinced that there was no such wedding to be found in any of the Star Wars movies and what did I know anyway? It turns out, quite a bit!  Enjoy this sappy little scene… while you can before Episode 3 destroys all that’s good in the Star Wars world.

Told you so!
