Bridesmaid Gift Idea

I stumbled across these adorable makeup bags from JuJuBaju on Etsy, and think they could make the best personalized bridemaid gifts.  If it were me, I would add some of my favorite products… some double-stick fashion tape (because it’s hard to find in the drugstore),

an Orange Crush LipSmacker (because it’s nostalgic and fun),

and a tarte cheek stain stick (to enhance that rosy glow).

But you could personalize the insides of the bags however you want, based on each bridesmaid.  What fun!

Amanda Archer Collection on Etsy

I stumbled across Amanda Archer’s Bridal collection on Etsy and fell in love with the  line of fabulous frocks for bridesmaids, rehearsal dinners, and even wedding planners! :)   The designer uses all natural fabrics and trims (100% cotton, silk shantung, etc.), creating made-to-order designs.    I love the modern twists on classic styles with a dash of retro and tons of personality.   And with most under $200, your bridesmaids will thank you.

Carol Hannah Bridal on Etsy!

I sort of woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  Etsy to the rescue!  I stumbled across some incredibly romantic and feminine bridesmaids and bridal dresses.  I clicked on the dress details before I realized who the designer was… it was none other than Carol Hannah, who was robbed of the Project Runway crown last season!  Figures that I was already a huge fan of the designer!

Anyway, if you have a case of the Tuesday morning grumps, prepare to be cheered by fabulous frocks!

Gift Ideas at Navy and Lavender

I stumbled across Navy and Lavender this morning and just had to share!

I’m always looking to borrow ideas from store-bought welcome bags for DIY welcomes, and Navy and Lavender fills their welcome bags with some very nifty treats!

I absolutely love their gift concepts for your bridal party.  They offer gift baskets for all your bridesmaids… from the perfect hostess

to the beach bum!

These gifts would even work perfectly as mother of the bride and mother of the groom gifts!

The men in your bridal party are not overlooked.  Check out this tee-time gift bag:

And, last but not least, you have to see Navy and Lavender’s signature “favor cakes.”  Perfect for a smaller party or a shower.

Oh Anthopologie… Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?

Exciting news Rochester Anthropologie fans out there: They are opening a new store in early-November at Eastview Mall in Victor, NY!

This means we can actually enjoy all the delights that Anthropologie has to offer without paying those exorbitant shipping fees. Happy Friday indeed! And I just happened to be by the mall the other day and took note of the massive size of the soon-to-be store, which I hope means good things about the size of the sale department!

Anthropologie can be a great source of rehearsal dinner attire, jewelry, accessories, and gifts:

Beautiful Bridesmaids…Brilliant Bags

Thanks to Style Me Pretty, a hugely popular and inspiring wedding blog, for introducing me to Dylan & Dillion, creators of cute clutches, tanks, tees, and a new line of bags just for weddings (the bag pictured is not their wedding bag design – watch the Flash slideshow on their home page to view that special clutch). Brides can match bag colors to their overall color scheme and bestow these beauties onto their happy bridesmaids as thank you gifts. Each bag is $65, a little steep, but not unreasonable – definitely something different to think about besides the standard jewelry when you’re deciding on the perfect bridesmaid gift.

The Meaning of Honor Attendant

One more post before I head out of town!

Bridesmaids have a lot of responsibilities leading up to the big day. Chief among them, paying for the dress, shoes, alterations, hair, makeup, and travel expenses. Partying is the second main bridesmaid responsibility: showers, bachelorette parties, bridal luncheons, engagement parties, and the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner are prime examples. Other tasks include staying in touch with the rest of the bridal party and assisting the bride when needed with pre-wedding activities (e.g. invitation writing).

The most important part about being a bridesmaid however is simply being there for the bride. They call bridesmaids “honor attendants” for a reason. As someone who’s been a bridesmaid twice now, I can personally say it’s an honor to stand up there by your friend’s side as she pledges her love to this person… this person who you can still remember her talking giddily about all those years ago… It’s an honor to be one of the first people to see her in that gorgeous white dress and get to see her transform from beautiful woman to beautiful bride.

And besides all that, it’s fun! And, if you’re single, don’t forget to try your hardest to catch that bouquet!
