Groomsmen Gift Ideas!

A LONG time ago, last July in fact, I posted an entry on one awesome idea for a groomsmen gift: the IPOD shuffle.

I had a bride ask me for some other ideas, so here is my attempt at answering this impossible question.

  • A sports event or a concert for all the groomsmen (if they are all local).  I must admit I got this idea from a creative client.  It’s great because not only is it an enjoyable gift, but the groom can experience the fun as well.
  • A beer of the month club.  Yes, this one is a bit cliched (men like beer, yadda yadda yadda), but it is fun receiving things in the the mail each month that you otherwise need to go to the store for.  This can be on the pricey side, so it’s best for smaller wedding parties.
  • A digital photo frame
  • A bottle of his favorite wine, scotch, etc. or a beer basket of his favorite brews.
  • Personalized mug, flask, watch, cufflinks, pocket knife, planner, money clip, check book holders, or golf clubs.  I know that’s an eclectic mix, but that’s why there is a perfect gift for everyone!

Whatever you do, try as much as you can to personalize each gift to each groomsmen.

Gift Ideas at Navy and Lavender

I stumbled across Navy and Lavender this morning and just had to share!

I’m always looking to borrow ideas from store-bought welcome bags for DIY welcomes, and Navy and Lavender fills their welcome bags with some very nifty treats!

I absolutely love their gift concepts for your bridal party.  They offer gift baskets for all your bridesmaids… from the perfect hostess

to the beach bum!

These gifts would even work perfectly as mother of the bride and mother of the groom gifts!

The men in your bridal party are not overlooked.  Check out this tee-time gift bag:

And, last but not least, you have to see Navy and Lavender’s signature “favor cakes.”  Perfect for a smaller party or a shower.

Totally Unique Boutonnieres by Fritts Rosenow

Fritts Rosenow is a company I just stumbled upon that makes custom boutonniers. These unique items are perfect for the guy that does not want to be burdened with flowers on his lapel. I can’t get over how much creativity is packed into such a small package! Prices range anywhere from $35-$100+, so they are pretty pricey to outfit an entire wedding party. Still, what a great gift idea for your groom! You can choose from designs inspired from vintage games to sports to the outdoors. Here’s one of my favorites chosen with my special guy in mind.

Awesome Gift Idea for Your Husband To Be!

So I was doing a little DIY-inspired wedding google searching and I came across this awesome site called Tie That Binds. You can purchase a PDF of the label and DIY to wrap it around your fiance’s wedding day socks. If you want to save your pennies, you could also borrow the concept and design your own label!
This also would make an excellent add-on thank you gift for the groomsmen in your wedding. Not to mention the fact that socks can be a great way for the guys to show their personality on your wedding day.
Tie That Binds also has great ideas for bridesmaids as well. Check out this label designed to help pop the “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?” question:
I especially like the Tie That Binds owner’s introduction to her bridesmaid section: “They were there for the first crushes, broken hearts, and sleepovers. These products are dedicated to the women that have been dreaming of this big day as long as you have- your best friends!” How true!

Impossible question of the day: What to get the groomsmen as a thank you gift?

I’ve got an answer! Well, I have a potential answer.
No, it’s not a pink pasmina! I’m sure that would go over real well.

Let’s face it, women really struggle shopping for men. The typical groomsmen does not wear a lot of jewelry; they don’t usually like fancy beauty products; and they don’t tend to appreciate the luxury of a cashmere pashmina.

So what to do? Well you could try putting your fiance in charge, but do you really want to risk wrapping thank you gifts the night before your rehearsal dinner?

Better Together Events to the rescue! To help in your wedding planning needs, I will periodically offer a diverse range of groomsmen gift ideas because, of course, no two wedding parties are the same.

Idea #1: IPOD shuffle (under $50)

  • Con: a lot of people own an IPOD; Pro: but shuffles are perfect for working out and for doing stuff around the house, so it’s not a bad idea to have a shuffle in addition to a regular one.
  • Con: Can be perceived as generic, especially when each member of the wedding party gets the same thing. Pro: You can make it personal by creating an individualized CD for each person to bestow along with each shuffle. Choose songs that speak to that unique relationship or that encourage reminiscing moments of that time in high school that you belly laughed until 2 am together. (Hmmm… do guys belly laugh? You see my problem – I’m sort of a girl’s girl, but trust me on this IPOD idea!). Anyway, Will Smith’s GettinJiggy With It” always takes me back to my high school days. Did I just date myself? Probably. Moving on, if you are ok with spending a little more, you can make a whole package out of this by placing the shuffle in a personalized beer mug and attaching the CD in a decorative way.

If my inner monologue is not evidence enough, it’s time for me to hit the hay! If you can’t wait for more groomsmen gift ideas, call Better Together Events today for your free initial consultation!
