Emily and Brendan

Emily and Brendan were married on July 17th, 2010 on a beautiful day in Cape Cod.  Yes, Better Together Events happily travels!   The wedding style was classic Cape Cod with a strong palette of navy, green, and whites.  Stripes were utilized wherever possible in the decor.

Their celebrations started early with a rehearsal lobster dinner on a cruise boat1

After the feast, the wedding party boarded a bus to the Welcome Party that was held at the Cape Cod Museum of Art.   Guests were treated to light fare, drinks, and the best cupcakes I’ve ever had courtesy of The Casual Gourmet.   What was really nice about this venue is that guests could mingle while taking in some of the amazing art the museum had to offer.

The next day, the bride and her ladies got ready at Wequasset Resort in Chatham.  Charlotte Phinney came to do hair and makeup styling.   Soon the bridal party arrived at Wychmere Harbor Club, and the bride was ready in a gorgeous knee-length Priscilla of Boston gown and veil.   The rest of the bridal party was decked out in J.Crew.  Bridesmaids shoes are Lands End, and the flower girl shoes are Baby Gap!  The brides heels are J.Crew and her red, party flats are Prada.

The wonderful Wendy from Wendy Cahill Photography documented the wedding day and provided all the beautiful images to follow.   Wendy actually took Emily’s photos growing up, and I think that personal connection brought that much more out of the photos.  They literally come to life!

Emily and Brendan decided to do a first look, which is always so sweet and seems to make the rest of the day so much more relaxing for the bride and groom!

Soon it was time for the ceremony to begin.  The Scorton Chamber Ensemble provided impeccable ceremony music.  Lilac’s Florals designed some truly incredible floral artistry that fit perfectly with the classic and clean wedding style.   All wedding stationary was done by Wedding Paper Divas.

What stood out to me about this wedding was all the LOVE present.  All the guests from different families and groups of friends truly got along, enjoyed each other, and came together in support of the bride and groom.  It was awesome!

The reception was set-up beautifully with a clean, elegant, and romantic ambiance.   Casual Gourmet made the delicious and gorgeous wedding cake.

One of my favorite reception ideas was the table numbers!  Each table represented a year in the life of the bride and groom with a photo of each of them from that age.  It was a lot of fun for guests to check out and was such a personal detail that just added to the warmth and love in the room.

Gayle and Lee are getting married this long weekend at the beautiful Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park.  I am sooo excited for the two of them!

I cannot wait to share all the details.  Two words to get your wedding planning heart pumping: Etsy and Vintage!  Gayle and Lee really put themselves and who they are as a couple into their wedding design, and I am honored to be able to see it all come together.  Congrats in advance to a wonderful couple!

Marina and Edgar’s Beach Wedding

Marina and Edgar were married this June .   The reception was inspired by the beach, with shades of blue and brown filling the room at Roger Robach Lodge .

The very talented Lauren Kennedy was the Photographer.  Sadly for us in the Rochester wedding world, she’s moved her business to the West Coast, where she’s sure to leave her beautiful mark on many happy couples.  Good luck, Lauren!

Bridget and Gerry – June 6, 2010

Bridget and Gerry were married June 6, 2010 at Belhurst Castle in Geneva, NY.   Congratulations to an amazing couple!

Bridget and Gerry were my first complete planning couple of the season, and it was wonderful to see a year of planning come together in a beautiful day.  Stormy skies didn’t get these two down as you can see in the amazing photography talent of Edoo Photography.   Shawna and Shamir were unstoppable and I was so impressed with their skills!  They are based out of Houston, but are always willing to travel for weddings.16

I was thrilled to work with Flower Power Decor on this wedding.  Lisa, the owner/floral designer, is incredible talented.  She took Bridget’s vision of bright tangerine and persimmon red and added a hint of green and pink to really make the colors pop.  The end result was just gorgeous.13

69

Bridget and I loved Lisa’s designs so much, we incorporated the pink into some of the stationary elements and the chair cover rentals.  The menu cards, programs, and ribbon details were done by yours truly at Better Together EventsHank Parker’s supplied the chair cover and chair sashes in shades of persimmon red and pink.

Lisa also did the cake flowers on Bridget and Gerry’s delicious and beautiful cake, done by Missy at Edible Arts.   So many guests were raving about this cake;  it was beyond yum.

66

71

Half was vanilla on vanilla; the other half was orange cream with vanilla frosting.  I had bites of both (ok, maybe a piece of both), and both were amazing.  The orange cream was a cake version of a creamsicle (and just heavenly).  I love the placement of the square tiers; combined with Lisa’s floral design, it was hard to look away from this cake!

Laurie and Bill at Flowing Fondue Chocolate supplied the chocolate-fountain, which you can see was a huge guest-favorite! The chocolate and all the dippers were delicious, and Laurie even provides a centerpiece for the table to compliment the wedding’s colors.

Special thanks to Sandy Gianniny, a wonderful harpist, who did the ceremony music.  Despite temperatures in the 50s, Sandy was determined to make music for Bridget and Gerry’s lovely ceremony.  And she did it beautifully!

I get asked a lot if I get nervous before weddings, and of course I do a bit, but my nerves are always calmed by the amazing team of vendors that come together as a team to implement a couple’s vision of their big day.  Many thanks to all the wonderful vendors mentioned above, and to Carmen and her incredibly knowledgeable staff at Belhurst, Karen and Brandon at Isabella Spa (nails, hair, and makeup), K Ventures (transportation), Go Sound (entertainment), and Chaplain Grace for his officiating.

Bridget and Gerry, thank you so much for inviting me along on the adventure of wedding planning and to take part in your most special of days.  It was my pleasure getting to know you and bouncing ideas off one another.  May every day be as happy and as special as June 6, 2010 for the two of you!

It’s All in the Details and an Awesome Team!

Before wedding season took over all our lives, I got to take part in a fabulous collaborative photo shoot spearheaded by the talented Chelse at EIEIO and Glow Photography.

I was in charge of adding in some details based on the color scheme (pink, red, green and brown) and the theme (antique/vintage, spring picnic).  Of course the unpredictable April Rochester weather got in the way of the outdoor picnic vision, but it did not prevent an absolutely stunning photoshoot.   The incredible team was made-up of:

PhotographerGlow Photography
Floral Designer - In Bloom Weddings
CakeSimply Sweets
Makeup – Tammi Nocon

What struck me the most about the final results (below) is how in sync everyone’s contributions were.   I am so impressed by all of the professionals’ hard work and many talents.  It was my honor to be a part of the team!
